Collagen

Your body makes collagen naturally but as you age, your collagen production naturally declines. Additionally, collagen becomes fragmented and more loosely distributed. As a result, these changes lead to the characteristic signs of aging, such as wrinkles and dry, sagging skin. The integrity of the collagen found in the skeletal system decreases with age as well, leading to reductions in bone strength. Age-related collagen loss is unavoidable, especially with poor dietary and lifestyle factors. Therefore, to help with collagen formation, it is beneficial to include protein-rich foods as well as fruits and vegetables, which are rich in vitamin C and other antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compounds.

Collagen is a type of protein and the main structural protein in the extracellular matrix that makes up the structure or framework of cells and tissues. It is made up of cell fibers (gel like substances) found in bone, cartilage, fat and blood. It is important for improving skin elasticity, reducing wrinkles and increasing blood flow to the skin.

There are 28 known types of collagen, with type I collagen accounting for 90% of the collagen in the human body. It provides structural support to tissues and plays important roles in cellular processes, including, tissue repair, immune response, cellular communication and cellular migration, a process necessary for tissue maintenance.

Research findings suggest that taking collagen supplements may help increase bone mineral density in people in postmenopause, who are at a greater risk of developing osteopenia and osteoporosis. In addition, taking collagen supplements reduced participants’ symptoms related to osteoarthritis, including stiffness.

Ginseng

Ginseng, also known as Asian ginseng, is a kind of ginseng genus in the Araliaceae family. It has fleshy roots and can be used for medicinal purposes. It mainly grows in East Asia, especially in cold regions. Although ginseng has been used in traditional medicine for centuries, modern clinical research is still under discussion. Ginseng is a common medicinal material in Asia, and American ginseng (Panax quinquefolius) is also widely used in North and Central America. Many herbal medicine shops and supermarkets can find a variety of ginseng slices and extract health products. The saponins contained in the root of ginseng are its active ingredients. The wild ginseng in Changbai Mountain, China has a high content of saponins, but it is difficult to obtain and is expensive. Ginseng is not easy to cultivate. South Korea began to develop Korean ginseng cultivation in the early 18th century, and the United States began to cultivate American ginseng in the mid-19th century.

It is a perennial herb distributed in areas with an altitude of 500-1100 meters. It generally grows in coniferous and broad-leaved mixed forests or mixed woods on gentle slopes or slopes of mountains with a small temperature difference between day and night. Mandrake also looks similar to a human. In ancient times, ginseng was known as Huangjing, Dijing, and Shencao. Ginseng is known as the "king of herbs" and is one of the famous "Three Treasures of Northeast China" (ginseng, ganoderma lucidum, and deer antler). It is a famous and precious medicinal material known to both the young and the old.
